What will be done at my first appointment?
Your first appointment will usually be a consultation with the doctor to discuss your dental needs. He will do a complete examination of your teeth and gums and an oral cancer screening, take any necessary diagnostic x-rays or study models, and review your complete medical history. After his examination is complete he will discuss the course of treatment. If there are no dental issues, your next appointment will usually be an appointment to have your teeth cleaned.
Why may I need one appointment to see the dentist, then another to have my teeth cleaned?
The doctor needs to evaluate the health of your teeth and gums to determine if a routine cleaning is the appropriate procedure for you. We want to be able to reserve the appropriate amount of time for your treatment.
