Digital radiography: Digital x-rays have replaced film x-rays in our offices since April 2007. Digital x-rays use less radiation to capture an image, so they are safer than conventional film radiographs. The images are available for viewing instantaneously, so there is no waiting while the hygienist or assistant processes the films, as before. Further, because they are viewed on a high-resolution flat- screen computer monitor in each operatory, they facilitate better diagnosis and communication between you and your dentist, enabling you to see most dental diseases as your dentist does. Lastly, this system eliminates using toxic fixer and developer chemicals, so they are more environmentally friendly, as well. digital radiography
Intraoral cameras: An intraoral (inside the mouth) camera is used as a diagnostic aid and a communication tool between you and your dentist. It is sometimes helpful with certain dental problems to be able to “see what your dentist sees” by using images captured with a special photographic wand and projecting them to the computer monitor in each operatory. intraoral camera
Fully integrated computers in each operatory: Each dental room, or operatory, is equipped with a computer that can be used for a variety of functions, from the digital x-ray system and cameras mentioned above, to scheduling your next visit when it is most convenient for you, all while you sit in the comfort of the dental chair. When referrals to specialists such as orthodontists or oral surgeons are made, your assistant or hygienist can have your digital x-rays printed and available for you upon checkout, so you can bring them with you to your consultation, rather than having the specialist unnecessarily re-take x-rays, in most cases. Further, patient education mini-videos are available for viewing for most dental procedures, to guide you through what procedures have been recommended by your dentist, with easy to follow illustrations. computers in operatory
Virtual Provider Network: Each of our Doctors are linked to our offices computer systems via a virtual provider network. This means that should you have an after-hours or weekend emergency, they can view your dental history and x-rays from home, even if your regular doctor isn’t on call. This facilitates better communication and more coordinated patient care. virtual provider network
Dental Implant Services: Dental implants are the wave of the future in dentistry, in situations ranging from replacing a missing or hopeless single tooth to helping stabilize dentures. All of our dentists restore dental implants, and routinely recommend them for situations in which they will benefit our patients. Dental implants are not subject to tooth decay and are very predictable.
Interactive Website: This website features downloadable patient registration forms for new patients, enabling you to fill out the forms ahead of time, saving time at your initial visit to our practice. Additionally, you may email our practice with questions or concerns by using the email link on our homepage, and someone from our business department will respond in a timely fashion. allegheny dental care website
