What to Expect

Whether you are coming to Allegany Dental Care from another office or are deciding to see a dentist for the first time in a while, we are happy welcome you into our family. If this is your first visit to our practice, we ask that you arrive to your appointment 15 minutes early in order to allow time to fill out our new patient forms.

Tight on time? You can find our new patient forms here, just fill them out at home and either email them to us or print them and bring them in with you.

If you haven’t seen a dentist in a while, Allegany Dental Care typically will arrange for you to spend time with your dentist before seeing one of our hygienists for your cleaning. If you have any specific concerns, please bring them to our attention so we can keep them in mind during the duration of your appointment. Your dentist and assistant will usually want to take updated x-rays and perform a visual exam to check for cavities and any other issues that need to be addressed, treated, or monitored. After this, the dentist will recommend necessary treatment and provide options when they are available. Feel free to ask questions at any point during your visit - it is important you understand and are comfortable with your treatment plan. If you have scheduled a cleaning immediately following your initial exam, your dentist will then introduce you to your hygienist for the remainder of your appointment.

If you have been under regular care of a dentist, but are new to Allegany Dental Care, you may be seen by the hygienist for your cleaning prior to your exam. Please talk with your previous provider’s office and ask to have your x-rays and other pertinent records sent to our office by emailing them.

Either your doctor or hygienist will update your x-rays if necessary. After your cleaning, your dentist will review your x-rays and perform a visual exam to check for any required or recommended treatment.
